Dear Parents/Guardians:

We would like to begin by thanking our community for the support you have given us this week.  We know some moments were more chaotic than others, but overall we are so pleased with the way this school year has started.  We ask that you continue to talk to your child/ren about what is different at school but also why it is different.  They have learned so much over the past week about keeping themselves, and those around them, safe.

In the morning, before your son or daughter comes to school, we have asked you to do a health check.  If you are unsure about what to look for, the Ottawa Public Health website offers a quick screening tool that anyone can use.  It is found on their landing page:  https://www.ottawapublichealth.ca/en/index.aspx

As this first week comes to an end, our dismissal procedures will be changing. On Monday, Sept 14th, our extended day program (EDP) will be running, along with our yellow school buses.  This will reduce the number of students who are being picked up at a gate.  It will also alleviate some of the traffic congestion.

We have been asked to create bus seating plans using the criteria of family and same cohorts.  These plans will be shared with OSTA and we will review seats with the children.  We would ask that you also speak to your child/ren about this. They must remain seated with a family member and/or in the seat that is assigned to them. Please see the attached letter from OSTA requesting that parents check the parent portal and the OSTA website Sunday night for any further changes to bus stops or times.

If your child/ren will be attending EDP or using the yellow school bus, we would ask that you write a note to the teacher on Monday to let them know if there is a new dismissal instruction for your child/ren, including if they will not use their bus seat.

The paper copy of our verification report (parent and emergency contact information) will not be sent home this year.  We ask that parents use the OCSB Parent Portal to update their contact information. Please take a moment this weekend to verify the information in the parent portal. As well every year we ask our families to review and sign our Responsible Use of Technology Agreement.  Your child must complete this in order to use the technology in the school.  Please use this link to print the agreement and send it in to your child’s classroom teacher.
