Did you know that over one billion people don’t have access to clean and safe drinking water?

This year, St. Cecilia’s Lenten project will be to raise funds to provide clean drinking water to people in developing nations and to help in the welcoming of Syrian refugees to Ottawa.

Students are encouraged to bring in toonies for our “Clean Water Challenge” fundraiser. Classes in the school have been divided into different colored teams. For every two dollar donation, your child will receive a water drop card in their name. These water drops will then be displayed in a race around the school. The money collected will go to support clean water initiatives in developing countries.

A portion of the funds collected will also go towards our Syrian refugee fundraiser. A total of 1,100 refugees are expected to be in Ottawa by the end of the month, half of them under the age of 14. Let’s all help to welcome those in need through our generosity.

The Lenten project will run from February 29 to March 24. So let’s get those toonies in and let the water race begin!

Thank you for joining us as we work together to share what we can spare.
