CPCO Principal of the Year

Congratulations to our Association's Recipient for the CPCO Catholic Principal of the Year Award, Jody Prevost, principal of St. Cecilia Catholic Elementary School.   This award recognizes outstanding school and community leadership and Jody is a certainly a model for both.


Thank you to all of you who nominated a colleague.  We had a number of very deserving administrators who were nominated for this award.  Thank you as well to the selection committee who had the very difficult task of selecting our award winner.


Jody will be recognized at the Annual Gala Dinner at the CPCO Conference in Toronto on April 14th.

School Attendance Boundary Update - December 14th Update

Please be advised that at its Board meeting on  December 13, 2022, Trustees approved the New Barrhaven South Elementary School Temporary Accommodation Plan. 


These approved changes will be effective for September 2023.

Memo regarding New Barrhaven South Catholic Elementary School - sent via School Messenger November 11

On Tuesday, June 14, the Ottawa Catholic School Board approved the attendance boundary for the new Barrhaven South Elementary School. This alters the attendance boundaries for St. Benedict, St. Cecilia and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton elementary schools. The changes will go into effect at the opening date of the new school, currently scheduled for September 2023.

JK to Grade 6 students attending our school who reside within the new school's approved boundary, will all be relocated to the new school.

Parent Portal - Information for Forms, IEPs, etc

How to complete forms using the portal:

The beginning of September is a busy time for collecting and passing on information.  In past years, we have sent home paper copies of the Student Information Verification Sheet and the Technology Agreement (which allows students to access technology at school).  The OCSB has moved these documents to an online format.  Please access, fill out and submit these forms on the Parent Portal before September 26 (do not use the student portal).  

For the Student Information Verification Form, please fill out ONLY the fields that have changes to be made, if there are no changes to be made, do not submit the form.

OSTA Empty Seat Program - news as of October 3rd

Empty Seat (Seat Availability) Provision - Empty Seats/Courtesy Seating Program

The Empty Seat/Courtesy Seating Program has been temporarily suspended due to an ongoing driver shortage resulting in disruptive long-term and short-term cancellations. The situation will be re-evaluated in November once transportation services have stabilized.

We have many great programs and resources designed to help students who will be walking, rolling or being driven to school. Interscholastic Sports - Information

Cross Country Meet - October 12th  

Tryouts are this week at school on  Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 3rd, 5th and 6th at lunchtime.  The student have been practising during their DPA (daily physical activity)  for the past two weeks.

11 year olds                   Monday 12:40

10 year olds                   Wednesday 12:40

9 year old and under    Thursday 12:40


5 students in each age category will be selected for the team and will be representing SCE at the Cross Country meet which will be held (weather permitting) on Wednesday, October 12th at the Terry Fox Complex. Races start at 10am and will take the majority of the day. Students will return to their schools before the end of day dismissal. Permission forms will be handed out to students who make the team. Bussing will be provided by the school Board.
